Greetings M-NES Families:

I hope this email finds each of you doing well and having a great week as we move closer to the end of the 2023-2024 school year. It’s hard to believe, but as of today, we only have 24 school days remaining in the school year. I know these 24 days will be filled with excitement and determination as our Foxes finish the year strong!

As was announced several months ago, Ms. Roane will be retiring at the end of this school year after seven years of exceptional service as principal of Moss-Nuckols Elementary School. Ms. Roane has done so much for M-NES, our school division, and our community. We are so appreciative of the work she has done for our Foxes over the years, and we are so happy for her as she prepares to enjoy her well-earned retirement in the years ahead!

With that being said, we also look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence at Moss-Nuckols Elementary School with the beginning of a new chapter in the near future. Today, I am writing to you to let you know that Mr. David Street will be serving as our new principal at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Mr. Street has an extensive and successful background in education. He has spent 18 years as an educator, most recently serving as an Assistant Principal in Nottoway County. Mr. Street has also served as a reading specialist in Buckingham County and as an elementary classroom teacher in Grayson County for six years.

During our extensive search, Mr. Street displayed a valuable combination of impressive leadership skills and instructional knowledge. He also clearly communicated his belief in the value of SUPPORT for M-NES students, families, and staff. We are excited to welcome Mr. Street, his wife Kelly, and his daughter, Faith, to our team at the M-NES Family. You will be receiving correspondence from Mr. Street in the early summer, and he plans to host meet-and-greet sessions for M-NES students and families this summer as well.

So, once again, it’s an exciting time to be a part of the Fox Family! I look forward to seeing many of you around campus over the next several weeks as we sprint toward the finish line of the 2023-2024 school year. Let’s finish strong, and as always, please reach out if you need anything.  My door is always open to you.

We are TeamLCPS.

Sincerely,

J. Douglas Straley

Division Superintendent
