Moss-Nuckols Elementary School thrives on being an inclusive, hands on school. Finding the Nature Explore program is a perfect fit with our population. Our school is the FIRST school in the state of Virginia to be a Certified Nature Explore School.
Moss-Nuckols collaborated with Nature Explore, a collaborative program of the Arbor Day Foundation and Dimensions Educational Research Foundation, to help our children and families engage with the natural world and hands-on learning activities.
Our Nature Explore outdoor learning includes various activities that allow our students the opportunity to collaborate, engage in critical thinking, be creative, and problem solve using various materials in our outdoor space. This space also incorporates opportunities for STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Most of what our students do in our outdoor classroom involve elements of STEAM learning because the core of STEAM is discovering how the world works. We are very excited about this learning opportunity for our students and families!
