The Fox Family Focus: Week of October 11, 2026

Mon, 12 Oct 2026 13:29:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I hope you are all enjoying your weekend! I have some exciting news to share, and I have to tell you, this is a pretty special moment for our Fox Family!

Moss-Nuckols Elementary is officially DISTINGUISHED! Fox Families, we have earned the Distinguished designation, and this is the highest ranking our school has ever achieved! How exciting is that?

I am incredibly proud, but what makes this accomplishment so special is knowing how many people helped make it happen. Our students are working hard, our teachers and staff are giving their all, our families continue to support our Foxes, and our community believes in what we are doing here. This belongs to all of you! I feel so fortunate to be part of a school community that continues to grow and accomplish great things together. We are truly growing to greatness through unity, and I hope every one of our Foxes feels proud of what we have achieved!

And speaking of our Fox Family showing up, our PTA now has over 200 members! That is amazing! We also loved celebrating our students at the Perfect SOL Ceremony. Seeing our Foxes recognized for their hard work and accomplishments is always a highlight.

Now, let me share a few things coming up. Monday and Tuesday, October 12th and 13th, there will be no school. We will welcome everyone back on Wednesday, October 14th, and report cards will go home Friday, October 16th.

Next week, we will also kick off our Breast Cancer Awareness Coin Drive, running October 19th through the 23rd. We will start with PINK OUT DAY on Monday, October 19th, so wear your pink and help us support this important cause!

We are also looking forward to Books and Breakfast on October 20th and 21st! Families are invited to join us in the cafeteria from 7:30 to 8:10 in the morning for breakfast, books, and time together. Tuesday, October 20th, is for families with last names A through J, and Wednesday, October 21st, is for K through Z. Students are encouraged to wear their den colors, and please remember to return your RSVP slip by October 16th. We would love to see you there!

Looking a little further ahead, our PTA Fall Festival is Friday, October 23rd. If you would like to volunteer or host a trunk, we would love your help! You can sign up using the link in our message. We are also continuing our shoe drive through the end of October, so keep those gently used and new shoes coming! And don't forget to check out our Box Tops app for another easy way to support our school.

Finally, keep an eye out for our Spirit Week flyer for October 26th through the 30th. We have lots of Fox pride and fun coming our way!

Before I let you go, I want to share something that this Distinguished recognition really reinforces for me. A school doesn't reach this level because of one person. It takes a whole team of people who care deeply about children and show up for them day after day.

And we are blessed with a team like that. Our teachers and staff put so much thought, heart, and hard work into helping every Fox learn and grow. They celebrate the little victories, keep encouraging our students when things get tough, and find new ways to help them succeed. I get to see that commitment up close, and it makes me proud to walk into Moss-Nuckols every day. This achievement reflects the incredible work happening in our classrooms, and our staff deserves to feel so proud of what they have helped our school accomplish.

Enjoy your days off, Fox Families, and take a moment to celebrate what we have achieved together. We are DISTINGUISHED, and we are just getting started!

Let's continue to be kind, work hard, and lead the way.

Have a wonderful evening, and as always...

Foxes Out!

The Fox Family Focus: Week of October 4, 2026

Sun, 04 Oct 2026 22:52:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I have to say, looking back on this past week, there were so many moments that made me proud to be a Fox.

I really appreciate everyone who came out to The Jungle for Music Night and Military Appreciation Night. It was such a special evening, and hearing our Foxes sing the National Anthem was something I was incredibly proud to be a part of. Those are the moments that make being a principal so special.

I also loved seeing so many of our families take a moment to recognize our custodians for Custodian Appreciation Day. They truly are some of the unsung heroes of our building. They work behind the scenes every single day to make sure our school is ready for our Foxes, and we are incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful custodial team.

I also want to give a shout-out to everyone who supported our MNES Spirit Store. We really appreciate everyone who helped make it a success, and we hope to have another opportunity for our families to shop with us during the second semester.

Now, I want to make sure our fifth-grade families know about something really exciting. We have a brand-new MNES Science website, and it is an amazing resource for our fifth graders to practice science at home. There are some great resources to help our students review and strengthen those science skills, so fifth-grade families, please take a few minutes to check it out with your Fox!

MNES Science Website

It is hard to believe, but Quarter 1 ends this Friday, October 9th. Report cards will come home the following Friday, October 16th.

This Wednesday, October 7th, we are also excited to celebrate our Foxes who earned a perfect score on an SOL last year. That is an incredible accomplishment, and we are so proud of each one of these students. We can't wait to recognize them and celebrate all of their hard work!

I also want to recognize everyone who dropped off shoes during our shoe drive on Saturday. It was wonderful to see our community continue to support this effort. And remember, we are still collecting gently used and new shoes throughout the month of October. You can bring them by the front entrance of Moss-Nuckols anytime.

And I have to congratulate our Kindergarten families! After a very close PTA Membership Contest, Kindergarten came out on top and earned the DJ recess! Way to go, Kindergarten! We cannot wait to see our Foxes having a great time celebrating.

It is still not too late to join our PTA and be part of everything happening at Moss-Nuckols. Our next virtual PTA meeting is this Thursday, October 8th, at 6:00 PM. Whether you are already a member or are simply interested in getting involved, we would love to have you join us and hear about what is happening at MNES.

PTA Zoom Meeting

And don't forget about our Box Tops app and joining our PTA. Those are two simple ways to continue supporting our Foxes.

As we get further into October, Kindness Month is officially underway, and we have some really exciting things planned. One thing I am especially excited about is our Kindness Coin Drive, October 19th through the 23rd. All of the coins collected will go toward Breast Cancer Awareness. Be on the lookout for more information because I know our Foxes are going to show just how big their hearts can be.

Before I let you go tonight, I want you to know how much I appreciate this community. Every week, I get to see our families show up for our students, cheer them on, support our school, and believe in what we are building together at Moss-Nuckols. Being trusted to lead this school is something I am genuinely grateful for, and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve our Fox Family.

And I have to end by talking about the people who make Moss-Nuckols what it is. Our teachers and staff pour so much into our Foxes every single day. I see the preparation, the patience, the creativity, the little moments of encouragement, and the love they bring into this building every day. They don't just teach our students—they know them, they believe in them, and they care about who they become. That is something truly special, and I feel incredibly lucky to work alongside such an amazing group of people. Our Foxes are in some pretty incredible hands.

Let's have another great week, Fox Families. Let's continue to be kind, work hard, and lead the way.

Have a wonderful evening, and as always...

The Fox Family Focus: Week of September 27, 2026

Mon, 28 Sep 2026 00:06:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend. I have to tell you, there is a lot to smile about after another great week at Moss-Nuckols.

First, thank you to everyone who came out for our Math and Literacy Night. It was so special seeing so many of our Foxes learning, exploring, and having fun with their families. There is just something that warms my heart about seeing our parents and students together, enjoying learning. It says so much about how much our families believe in education, believe in their children, and believe in what we are doing here at MNES. Thank you for being part of it.

And thank you to everyone who visited our Book Fair. As a principal, one of my favorite things is seeing a Fox with their nose in a good book. There is nothing better than watching that love of reading grow.

This week, we are also very excited to welcome Maple from Bella's Buddies to the Fox Family. I know our students are going to be excited to meet Maple, and I can't wait to see the smiles that come with that.

Thursday, October 1st, is Kindness Day and the beginning of our Kindness Month. Be on the lookout for some really exciting things happening throughout the month as we celebrate what it means to be kind and make a difference for others.

Friday is Custodian Appreciation Day, and we are so incredibly lucky to have such an amazing custodial team taking care of our school and our Foxes every single day. Please take a moment to tell them thank you or write them a little note. I know it will mean a lot.

Friday is also Military Appreciation Night and Music Night at the high school football game at The Jungle. We would love to see our Fox Family there cheering on our Lions and supporting our chorus students as they sing the National Anthem.

We are also making one final push for our Den Fun Run. We are less than $500 away from our $8,000 goal! What an incredible job our community has done. If you have a pledge or donation, now is the perfect time to help us cross that finish line.

And don't forget our shoe drive this Saturday, October 3rd, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. You can simply swing through MNES and drop off your gently used shoes. It's easy, and every pair helps support our students and staff.

We also have just a few days left in our PTA membership contest. The grade level with the most memberships by October 1st will earn a DJ recess! Membership is only $5, and you can sign up right here: PTA Membership Sign-Up

And don't forget about downloading our Box Tops app!

And Fox Families, I also want to remind you that our MNES Spirit Store only has FIVE DAYS left! If you've been thinking about getting a Fox shirt, sweatshirt, or something else to show your MNES pride, be sure to take a look before the store closes. There are some really great items available, and I know our Foxes love showing their school spirit! You can check it out right here: MNES School Store

Before I let you go, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for trusting me, believing in me, and allowing me to serve your children and this incredible community. I never take that trust for granted, and I am truly grateful every single day that I get to be your principal.

And I have to finish by bragging on our teachers and staff. They are the people who make the magic happen every day. I see the extra time, the planning, the patience, the creativity, and most importantly, the genuine love they have for our students. We are incredibly lucky to have the people we have here at Moss-Nuckols. They are truly special, and I am so proud and honored to serve alongside the greatest teachers and staff on the planet.

Let's have another great week, Fox Families. Let's continue to be kind, work hard, and lead the way.

Have a wonderful evening, and as always...

The Fox Family Focus: Week of September 20, 2026

Mon, 21 Sep 2026 00:30:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I have to start by saying how proud I am of our Foxes after another great week at Moss-Nuckols.

Last Friday night was especially special as more than 50 of our 5th graders had the opportunity to hold the flag at our home football game at The Jungle. Watching our students come together, represent Moss-Nuckols, and be part of such a special moment was something I know they will remember for a long time. I could not have been prouder of them, and they did an incredible job representing our Fox Family.

Now, looking ahead to this week, we have another busy and exciting one. Our Book Fair begins Monday, September 21st, and runs all week. Tuesday, September 22nd, is Picture Day, so make sure those Foxes bring their best smiles! And Wednesday, September 23rd, is our Math and Literacy Night. We will have some great activities planned, and we would really love to see our families come out and join us.

We are also continuing our PTA shoe drive. We are working toward our goal of 2,500 pairs by the end of September, so if you have gently worn shoes your family no longer needs, please consider donating them. Every pair helps.

And don't forget about our Den Fun Run donations. We are already almost halfway to our $8,000 goal, and pledges and donations are due by September 25th.

If you haven't already, check out our Box Tops app, join our PTA, and remember that we only have 10 days left to shop in our MNES School Store.

Before I let you go, I just want to take a minute to say thank you. Thank you for trusting me, believing in me, and continuing to support Moss-Nuckols and our Foxes. I feel incredibly fortunate to serve this community, and I never take that opportunity for granted.

And I have to brag on our teachers and staff one more time. I get to see the work they put in every day, both when people are watching and when nobody is watching. The care, patience, energy, and love they give our students is truly special. We are so lucky to have the people we have here at Moss-Nuckols, and I am incredibly proud to serve alongside the greatest teachers and staff on the planet.

Let's keep the momentum going, Fox Families. Let's continue to be kind, work hard, and lead the way.

Have a wonderful evening, and as always…

The Fox Family Focus: Week of September 13, 2026

Mon, 14 Sep 2026 11:06:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I have to tell you, I am still smiling thinking about last Friday! What an incredible day we had at Moss-Nuckols. Having more than 800 GrandHeroes come through our doors to spend time with our Foxes was truly special. And then seeing more than 125 runners complete almost 280 miles at our Den Fun Run—wow! Our students, families, and volunteers made it such a great night.

I just want to say thank you. Thank you for showing up, supporting our students, and making MNES the kind of place where our kids feel surrounded by people who care about them. I feel incredibly fortunate to serve this community.

We have a little bit of a quieter week ahead, but there are still some exciting things happening.

This week, our 5th graders will have the opportunity to hold the flag at our home football game at The Jungle. We would love to see our Fox Family there supporting them! Fifth graders, if you haven't turned in your permission slip yet, please make sure you get that back to us.

And I want to make sure everyone has a few things on their radar for next week, because it is going to be a busy one!

The Book Fair begins Monday, September 21st, and runs all week, and Tuesday, September 22nd, is Picture Day, so start getting those smiles ready!

Then on Wednesday, September 23rd, we will have our Math and Literacy Night. More information will be coming home this week, and we are really hoping to see a full house. We have some great things planned, and we would love for our families to join us.

We are also continuing our PTA shoe drive. We've collected almost 200 pairs so far, but our goal is 2,500 by the end of September. If you have gently worn shoes your family no longer needs, you can drop them off at the collection boxes at our front entrances. Every pair gets us a little closer!

And don't forget about our Den Fun Run donations. We are already almost halfway to our $8,000 goal, so please remember to send in any pledges or donations by September 25th.

If you haven't already, consider downloading the Box Tops app and joining our PTA. Both are simple ways to support our Foxes.

And if you still need some Fox gear, there are only two weeks left to shop in our MNES School Store, so don't wait too long! You can check it out here: MNES School Store.

Before I let you go, I just want to say how proud I am of our Foxes and how thankful I am for all of you. But I also want to recognize the people I get to work alongside every single day. Our teachers and staff are truly something special. I get to see the work that happens when nobody is watching—the planning, the extra time, the conversations, the encouragement, and the care they give our students. That is what makes this school what it is.

We are incredibly fortunate to have the greatest teachers and staff on the planet, and it is an absolute honor to serve alongside them.

Thank you for another great week, Fox Families. Let's keep being kind, working hard, and leading the way.

The Fox Family Focus: Week of September 6, 2026

Mon, 07 Sep 2026 12:49:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I have to start tonight by saying just how incredibly thankful I am to be part of the Moss-Nuckols community. Our students continue to amaze me, our families continue to support us, and every day I am reminded just how humbling it is to serve as the principal of what I truly believe is the greatest elementary school around. I am one very fortunate principal!

We have a busy and exciting week ahead, so let me give you a few things to put on your calendar.

First, just a reminder that school will be closed tomorrow, Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. I hope everyone enjoys the extra day with family and gets a chance to relax and recharge.

When we return on Tuesday, September 8th, our School Store fundraiser will officially kick off. Your child will bring home a lanyard with information about how the program works. When they return the completed lanyard with the code included, they will earn a participation prize. And remember, family and friends can help our school earn even more money and help students earn additional prizes. Lanyards can be returned later if needed, but getting them back quickly will help us get those prizes out as soon as possible. Thank you for supporting our Foxes!

Tuesday is also our Isibindi Den Spirit Day, so don't forget to wear green!

On Wednesday, September 9th, our Foxes should wear blue for Reveur, as we get ready for our very first Den Day on Thursday.

And Thursday is going to be a BIG day! It's our First Den Day of the year, so make sure your Fox is wearing their Den shirt or Den colors and is ready to show some serious Den Pride. Also, be on the lookout for First in Math login information coming home that day.

Then, on Friday, September 11th, we have two very exciting events—GrandHeroes Day AND our Den Fun Run! We are so excited to celebrate our GrandHeroes and can't wait for a great day with our families.

For GrandHeroes Day, we will be checking visitors in through the gym this year. Please remember to bring your ID with you. Having your ID ready will help us move everyone through the check-in process much more quickly and get you where you need to be.

And it's finally Fun Run week! We are so excited to see our Foxes run, cheer each other on, and show their Den Pride. We are still looking for volunteers to help pass out medals after the run. If you can help, please sign up here: Den Fun Run Volunteer Sign-Up.

Interim reports will also be coming home with students on Friday, so please be on the lookout for those.

A couple of other quick reminders: Our PreK, Kindergarten, and 3rd grade students will be participating in screenings over the next 90 days, including speech, vision, and fine and gross motor skills.

Our Math and Literacy Night is coming up on September 23rd, and more information will be coming home this week. We are hoping for a full house because this is going to be a great night for our Fox Family!

Our PTA is also continuing its shoe drive. If you have gently worn shoes your family no longer needs, bring them to either front entrance or to the Fun Run. Our goal is 2,500 pairs by the end of September, so every pair helps! Please, no skates or rollerblades.

And don't forget to download the Box Tops app and consider joining our PTA.

Finally, there are only three weeks left to shop in the MNES School Store, so if you've been thinking about getting some Fox gear, now is the time! Show off that Fox Pride here: MNES School Store.

Before I let you go, I want to take a moment to recognize the people who make all of this possible—our teachers and staff. They are the heart of Moss-Nuckols. They show up every day with incredible dedication, patience, energy, and, most importantly, a genuine love for our Foxes. I get to see the work they put in behind the scenes, and I can tell you that our students and families are incredibly fortunate to have them. We truly have the greatest teachers and staff on the planet, and I am forever grateful for the heart they bring to this school. It is an honor to serve alongside them.

Thank you, Fox Families, for your continued support, your trust, and for making MNES such a special place. Let's have another great week—let's be kind, work hard, and lead the way!

Have a wonderful evening, enjoy your Labor Day tomorrow, and as always…

The Fox Family Focus: Week of August 30, 2026

Mon, 31 Aug 2026 22:12:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and just wow is all I can say about how amazing these first two weeks of school have been! I could not be more proud of our young Foxes and the way they have come into school ready to learn, grow, and show their Fox Pride.

I truly feel like the luckiest principal in the world to call Moss-Nuckols home, and I am so thankful to be part of this incredible community. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for all of the support and encouragement you continue to show our school.

I have a few things to share with you this evening, so let me jump right in.

First, please make sure all of your registration information is completely updated. Outside food is now permitted at MNES, but it must be store-bought, have the ingredients labeled, and be received at least 48 hours in advance. If your child's online registration is not complete, they will not be permitted to receive outside food or use a school device until that information is submitted. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call our front office—we are always happy to help.

Now, we are getting excited for our first Den Day of the year on Thursday, September 10th! To help us get ready, we have some Den spirit days coming up. On Thursday, September 3rd, wear black for Altruismo. Friday, September 4th, wear red for Amistad. On Tuesday, September 8th, wear green for Isibindi, and on Wednesday, September 9th, wear blue for Reveur. We can't wait to see our Foxes showing their Den Pride!

Also, don't forget to sign up for GrandHeroes Day on Friday, September 11th. Forms are due back to school by Friday, September 4th, so please get those turned in if you haven't already.

Our virtual learning packets for inclement weather will also be coming home this week. Please put those somewhere safe. Hopefully, we won't need them, but we'll be ready just in case!

For our PreK and Kindergarten families, over the next 90 days we will be completing screenings in areas including speech, vision, and fine and gross motor skills.

And believe it or not, we are only two weeks away from our Den Fun Run! Registration forms have gone home, and we need those returned as soon as possible so we can create your child's fundraising webpage. We are also looking for volunteers to help pass out medals after the run. You can find the sign-up here: Den Fun Run Volunteer Sign-Up.

Our PTA is also hosting a shoe drive to help raise funds for MNES. If you have gently worn shoes your family no longer needs, drop them in the collection boxes at either front entrance or bring them to the Den Fun Run. Our goal is 2,500 pairs by the end of September, so we need our Fox Family to help us reach that goal! Please, no skates or rollerblades.

And don't forget to download the Box Tops app to start earning money for MNES. Every little bit helps! If you haven't joined yet, please consider becoming a PTA member here: joining our PTA

And finally, if you're looking for some MNES swag, our School Store is officially open! Show off your Fox Pride and check it out here: MNES School Store.

Before I let you go, I just want to say thank you. The love and support this community has shown MNES means more than I can put into words.

And to our teachers and staff—I hope you know just how special you are. The dedication, patience, energy, and heart you bring to this building every single day are what make Moss-Nuckols feel like home. We are truly fortunate to have the greatest teachers and staff on the planet, and it is an absolute honor to serve alongside you. I couldn't ask for a better team to do this work with.

Let's keep this momentum going, Foxes! Let's continue to be kind, work hard, and lead the way.

Have a wonderful evening, Fox Families, and as always…

Sun, 23 Aug 2026 20:53:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I want to start tonight by simply saying how thankful I am to be the principal of Moss-Nuckols Elementary. What a special community we have, and what a privilege it is to be part of the Fox Family. The support we have received from our families and community has been incredible, and I could not be more excited about the year ahead.

We have had such an amazing start to the school year, and I am so proud of our Foxes and our entire school community.

I also have some exciting news to share. We are proud to announce that GrandHeroes Day will be held on Friday, September 11th. Please be on the lookout this week for more information about this very special event.

I have just a few quick reminders for the week ahead.

First, please remember that no outside food will be permitted at school through August 31st, and all outside food must be received at least 48 hours in advance. The safety of our students is always our top priority. Please also make sure you have completed the registration information that includes the LCPS clinic information. Students will not be permitted to receive outside food until this information has been received.

While we are talking about registration, please make sure you have completed your child's online registration. If registration is not complete, your child will not have access to a school device until it is completed.

This week, we will also continue practicing our school safety drills. These are simply opportunities for our students and staff to practice what to do so everyone knows how to respond safely. We wanted to give everyone a heads-up so there are no surprises.

I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended our PTA meeting last week. We already have more than 100 PTA members, which is absolutely amazing! If you haven't joined yet, please consider becoming a member here: joining our PTA

And mark your calendars for Friday, September 11th, because we will also be having our Den Fun Run! We are so excited about this event and everything our PTA does to make experiences like this possible for our Foxes. We will be sharing more information soon, so keep an eye out for those details. You can also help support our school by downloading the Box Tops app.

And if you are looking for some MNES swag, our School Store is officially open! Show off your Fox Pride and check it out here: MNES School Store

Finally, this Friday, August 28th, will be our first Green and Gold Day and our first home football game in the Jungle! Let's show some Louisa pride, wear our green and gold, and I hope to see many of you there cheering on our Lions.

I want to say thank you. Thank you to our students for coming to school ready to learn, thank you to our families for your continued support, and thank you to this incredible community for believing in Moss-Nuckols.

And before I let you go, I want to give a special shout-out to our teachers and staff. You can feel the teamwork in our hallways, you can see the relationships being built in our classrooms, and most importantly, you can see our students growing in confidence each day. I am so thankful for the people who make this school such a special place for our Foxes. I am incredibly proud of this team and truly grateful to serve alongside each of you.

Let's keep this momentum going, Foxes! Let's continue to be kind, work hard, and lead the way.

Have a wonderful evening, Fox Families, and as always...

The Fox Family Focus: Week of August 16, 2026

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I have to tell you—what an incredible start to the school year! Our first few days have been absolutely amazing, and I could not be more proud of our Foxes. The smiles, the energy, and the excitement throughout the building have been so much fun to see.

And once again, thank you to our entire community for being so supportive and for trusting us with your children. We truly appreciate you, and we are so thankful to be part of this amazing Fox Family!

I have just a few quick reminders for the week ahead.

First, please remember that no outside food will be permitted at school through August 31st, and all outside food must be received at least 48 hours in advance. The safety of our students is always our priority. Please also make sure you have completed the registration information that includes the LCPS clinic information. Students will not be permitted to receive outside food until this information has been received.

And while we're talking about registration, please make sure you have completed your child's online registration. If registration is not complete, your child will not have access to a school device until it is completed.

This week, we will also have a lockdown drill and a fire drill. These are simply practice opportunities to make sure our students and staff know what to do and can respond safely. We just wanted to give everyone a heads-up so there are no surprises.

One quick request that will really help our office and transportation teams: whenever you send in a bus note or office note, please make sure your young Fox's first and last name is included. That helps us get the right information to the right student quickly.

I also want to give another big shout-out to our PTA! We already have more than 100 PTA members, so thank you to everyone who has joined. If you haven't yet, please consider joining our PTA.

Our first General PTA Meeting will be Thursday, August 20th at 6:00 PM right here at M-NES. We'll adopt our 2026–27 budget and share some exciting events and plans for the year, including our Fun Run on Friday, September 11th. We also still have a couple of open PTA Board positions for anyone interested in getting more involved. We'd love to see you Thursday!

And don't forget about the Box Tops app—it's an easy way to help raise money for our school.

Finally, I am super excited to announce that our MNES School Store is officially OPEN! If you want to show off your Fox Pride with some MNES swag, check it out here: MNES School Store.

As I look back on these first few days, I just want to say thank you. Thank you to our students for coming in ready to learn, thank you to our families for your support, and thank you to our community for continuing to believe in Moss-Nuckols.

And I have to end by saying how incredibly fortunate we are to have the greatest teachers and staff on the planet right here at Moss-Nuckols. They have poured so much time, energy, and heart into making this first week so successful. It is truly an honor to serve alongside them, and I am so proud to call them my team.

Let's keep this momentum going, Foxes! Let's continue to be kind, work hard, and lead the way.

Have a wonderful evening, Fox Families, and as always…

The Fox Family Focus: Week of August 9, 2026

Sun, 09 Aug 2026 21:21:00 GMT

Good Evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I have to tell you—I am so excited that we are finally here! Our first official day of school is this Wednesday, August 12th, and after seeing so many smiling faces at Open House, I can honestly say I cannot wait to get this year started. What an amazing community we have here at Moss-Nuckols!

Just a quick reminder that our doors will open at 7:50, the tardy bell will ring at 8:10, and dismissal will begin at 3:05. Please make sure your child knows how they are getting home on Wednesday. If there are any changes to transportation, please give us a call and send a note or email so we can make sure we have everything covered.

Also, please send back any registration and classroom forms that are still outstanding. If something is missing, we’ll be reaching out to families over the next few days. And if you still need to complete registration, you can find everything you need here: LCPS Registration

This week, our students will also begin some safety drills and assemblies. Nothing to worry about—we're simply practicing so everyone knows what to do and feels safe and confident at school.

I also want to give a huge thank you to our PTA for hosting our PreK and K Signing Day! Our PTA does so much to make Moss-Nuckols a special place, so if you haven't joined yet, it's just $5 and we'd love to have you be part of it. And don't forget about Box Tops—it's another simple way to support our Foxes!

And before I let you go, I have to brag on our staff for just a minute. I know I say it often, but I truly mean it. We have an incredible group of teachers and staff at Moss-Nuckols. They have spent countless hours getting classrooms ready, planning lessons, preparing materials, and thinking about how they can make this a great year for your children.

What I appreciate most is that they don't just prepare classrooms—they prepare to care for our young foxes. They work hard, they care deeply, and they want every child who walks through our doors to know that they belong here. I am incredibly thankful that I get to serve alongside them, and I am thankful to all of you for trusting us with your children every day.

So, Fox Families, let's get this year started with plenty of Fox Pride—by being kind, working hard, and leading the way.

Have a wonderful evening, and as always…
