Good evening, Fox Family!
This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I hope you’ve all enjoyed a wonderful weekend. Every week, I’m reminded just how lucky I am to be part of this amazing community and to lead such an incredible school filled with the best students, families, and staff anywhere.
Let’s start with a few reminders for the week ahead:
There will be no school on Monday, October 13th, and Tuesday, October 14th. Enjoy the long weekend, and we’ll see everyone back on Wednesday.
Report cards will go home on Friday, October 17th, so be sure to check those backpacks.
Also on Friday, we’ll celebrate our Altruismo Den Breakfast! Altruismo members can bring a special guest to breakfast starting at 7:30, and we’re asking all students to wear their den shirt or den color for Den Day activities later that morning.
Be on the lookout for information about First in Math! We’re so excited about this program and can’t wait for our young foxes to explore fun new ways to strengthen their math skills at home.
Our MNES Spirit Wear Store is now open through Monday, October 27th. You can find the link in the Sunday email or on our Facebook page https://bsnteamsports.com/shop/HPfRqeSQ2L — it’s a great way to show your Fox pride!
With Halloween right around the corner, we do want to remind families that food-related treats should not be sent in, due to student allergies. Non-edible treats like stickers, pencils, or small toys are perfect. And remember, any outside food brought in for celebrations must be store-bought, labeled, and turned in 48 hours in advance. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
A huge thank-you to our PTA for everything they’re doing to support our school. They provided pumpkins for our book character project, and we can’t wait to see how creative our students get! Their October general meeting is Thursday, October 16th, at 6 PM on Zoom https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89217299939 , and our Fall Festival and Trunk-or-Treat will be Friday, October 17th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. We also have to celebrate some Fun Run success — together, our Fox Family raised over $6,000! A huge shout-out to Ms. Lenhart’s 1st-grade class for raising the most money and earning a pizza party, and to Ms. Atkins’ 3rd-grade class for having the most PTA memberships — they’ll enjoy a pizza party too! Way to go, Foxes!
This month, we’re also celebrating Kindness Month, and our division-wide initiative, “Kindness: A Decade of Difference.” Students will take part in a Ten Acts of Kindness Challenge throughout the week of October 13th–17th, and those who complete the challenge can even win a prize. Let’s keep that kindness spreading throughout our school and community!
Looking ahead, the week of October 20th–24th will be our Coin Drive Spirit Week to support CASA, an incredible organization that helps foster children right here in Louisa. Be on the lookout for a flyer with all the theme day details!
Before I close tonight, I just want to say how thankful I am for our teachers and staff. Their dedication, creativity, and love for our students shine bright every single day. They truly make MNES a special place to learn and grow.
