This is Mr. Street, your proud principal at Moss-Nuckols Elementary. I hope you’ve had a weekend full of sunshine, laughter, and maybe even a little rest!
Before we jump into the week ahead, I want to take a moment to send a big Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms, grandmothers, aunts, and special women who support and care for our Foxes every day. You are truly the heart of our community, and we are so grateful for the love, strength, and encouragement you give our students. We see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you today and every day!
Now let’s talk about this week — because we are wrapping up our final round of SOL testing for 3rd through 5th grade. Our students have been showing grit, focus, and perseverance, and I could not be prouder. Let’s finish strong this week, Foxes — we believe in you, and we’re cheering you on every step of the way!
Families, thank you for being such important partners during testing season — from the pep talks at breakfast to making sure your child gets to school rested and ready, it truly makes a difference. Keep the encouragement coming — we’ve got this!
Looking ahead, Kindergarten Screening is happening this Wednesday, May 14th, right here at MNES from 3:30 to 6:30. If you have a rising kindergartener or know someone who does, now’s the time to register. We can’t wait to welcome our newest Foxes into the family!

And guess what’s coming up? 
Our End-of-Year Effort Carnival for 3rd–5th grade is Tuesday, May 20th! Students have been earning tickets by giving their best effort, staying positive, and pushing through challenges — and this is their chance to celebrate! We’re still looking for volunteers to help run games from 8:00 to noon. If you’re available, we’d love to have you join the fun. Please reach out to Dr. Ruhlman to sign up.
Also, don’t forget — our final PTA meeting of the year is this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. We’ll be voting on new board members and celebrating all the amazing work our PTA has done this year. Can’t make it in person? No problem — you can join via Zoom! PTA Zoom Meeting
And if you’re interested in serving as next year’s Treasurer or Volunteer Coordinator, or know someone who’d be a great fit, please reach out to the PTA. We’d love your help shaping next year’s success.
One last celebration: we’ve officially collected over 1,000 pounds of plastic for recycling — and we’ve earned a brand-new bench for our school! Thank you to everyone who helped us reach this amazing goal. We are no longer collecting plastic at this time, but what a difference you made!
And before I go, I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to our incredible MNES staff — our teachers, assistants, office team, custodians, cafeteria workers, and support staff — for their continued dedication and love for our students. You make this school a special place, and I’m grateful every day for the work you do.
