The Fox Family Focus: Week of March 1, 2026
Posted on 03/01/2026

Good evening, Fox families!
This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I hope you’ve had a wonderful Sunday.

There is a lot of excitement happening around our school right now, and I just love this time of year. Our learning cottages will be arriving this week. You may notice some small adjustments to traffic flow in the mornings and afternoon drop off, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we get settled in. We’re grateful for your flexibility as we adjust.

We have so much to celebrate. Our students brought home the trophy in the Black History Trivia Contest, with 3 foxes in the final 4 with the division winner coming from MNES. We are so proud of you guys. And our fifth graders absolutely shined during their Wax Museum projects. Seeing them speak with confidence and pride was something special.

This week is National School Breakfast Week and Read Across America Week, so we’re celebrating with a fun spirit week:
Monday is Knights and Princes Day, (Please remember no toy weapons, or masks, outfits must follow LCPS Dress Code)
Tuesday is Hat Day,
Wednesday is MNES Day,
Thursday is Pajama Day,
and Friday is Green and Gold Day.

We also revealed our One Book, One Louisa selection — Stuart Little — and we are so excited to begin this reading journey together.

Our Title I Family Movie Night is coming up on March 24th and 25th at the Goochland Drive-In. We’ll be watching Stuart Little together, and families will receive snack vouchers just like last year. Doors open at 5:30, and we can’t wait to see you there. https://bit.ly/4aJXjxw

A few quick reminders:

  • The online Book Fair is still open, and the in-person Book Fair will be on site next week. Keep an eye out for more information coming soon.

  • Third and fourth grade students, please remember to bring your recorders to music class.

  • Mrs. Ward is still looking for a few more volunteers for her clay unit starting this week. If you’re able to help, please consider signing up — it makes such a difference. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084AAAAD29A1FAC07-61798950-clay

  • Our Den Leaders are still collecting items for the Louisa County Animal Shelter, and we appreciate your support.

  • Please consider signing up for the PTA and downloading the Box Top App - Our next PTA event will be 3/13 Bingo Night

  • Our Last Den Breakfast will be 3/13 - We hope to see you there!

Don’t forget — we are now accepting Pre-K applications, and Kindergarten registration is open for next school year. Be sure to select the 26–27 school year when applying.

Before I  go, thank you for the way you continue to show up for our students and our school. And I have to say — our teachers and staff are simply incredible. They care deeply about our foxes, and they work hard every single day to make MNES a place where kids feel loved and excited to learn.

It is a joy to serve this community.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, and we’ll see our Foxes tomorrow morning. Let’s make it another great week by working hard, being kind, and leading the way.

Foxes out!
