Greetings Fox Families! This is Anita Roane, your principal with this week’s announcements and reminders. I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend and are enjoying a little warmer weather. Thank you all for your cooperation, we had a great week last week.

Take a look at this week's edition of the Fox Family Focus Newsletter!

The Foxy Focus for February is Patience

The students hear the following statement on the announcements each morning and are encouraged to incorporate it into their daily habits.

Patience means waiting for something without getting upset. We have to be patient when we are waiting for our turn to speak, waiting in a long line, or waiting for a game to start. Having patience is being calm and kind, even when we can’t get what we want right away.

This is a reminder about our foxes' chances once again to help serve our community for our next asynchronous day. We are partnering with the American Heart Association for the Kids Heart Challenge. Our school has two challenges to choose from, being active or being kind. I am sure we all know community members and even have some in our family that suffer from heart diseases. Our students are learning about how to be a Heart Hero and they can share this with others by sending in their videos on Wednesday. Packets have already been sent home and an electronic flyer has been sent to the email addresses on file with a video featuring some of our foxes demonstrating exercises that can be done.

So, don’t forget on Wednesday, February 9th have your child take on some challenges–whether it’s jumping jacks or jogging in place or maybe they are going out of the way to do something extra nice for someone. You can send the photos/videos to [email protected]. If you choose to raise funds through this service project it will help our community and beyond. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Fisher, our PE teacher.

Your child’s teacher will share any Valentine’s Day plans they have with you. This is a reminder that no outside food can be shared that day. Please keep that in mind if you are sending in goodie bags. Cards, pencils, erasers, and things along that line are perfectly fine but outside food is still not permitted at this time.

Don’t forget we are accepting Pre-School applications for the 2022 - 2023 school year. If your child will be 4 years old by September 30th, 2022 he/she may be eligible to enroll in our program. Call 540-603-9290 or visit preschool.lcps.k12.va.us to get your application started!

Here’s What’s Coming Up in the Fox Den

February 7th-11th - National School Counseling Week - Show Mrs. Funkhouser and Mrs. Woodward some LOVE!

February 9th - Asynchronous Day

February 11th - Kindness Day

February 21st - No School for students- staff development day for teachers

I appreciate the conversations that I had last week and I encourage you to continue to keep the lines of communication open with me. Your opinion matters and as I say all of the time you are the best advocate for your child so it is important that you share your concerns with me.

Thank you for making our school the EpicMNES that it is.
