Good evening, Fox Families!

This is your proud principal, Mr. Street, and I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend. We are excited to see our Foxes back and ready for another great week together!

I always appreciate this time to connect and share what’s coming up.

As we head into the week, we’ll continue our SOL testing for grades 3 through 5, with Math wrapping up and our 5th grade Science SOL beginning. Our students have been working hard all year, and we are so proud of the effort they’re showing. We’re almost to the finish line, and this is where we really want our Foxes to stay focused and finish strong.

One of the best things families can do right now is simply help keep things calm and positive at home. A little reassurance, a steady routine, and reminding students that they’re prepared can go a long way in helping them feel confident walking into each day. We’ve seen so much growth this year, and now it’s just about showing it.

I also want to take a moment to recognize some very important members of our school family. Last week we celebrated our bus drivers and cafeteria staff, and we are so thankful for the care they show our students each and every day. And this week, on May 6th, we celebrate Nurse Appreciation Day—so a big thank you to Nurse Tabby for everything she does to keep our Foxes safe and healthy.

Looking ahead to this week, our final day to turn in picture money or return unwanted photos is Monday, May 4th.

On Tuesday, May 5th, we hope our 4th and 5th grade families will join us for History and Science Night starting at 6:00 PM. It’s going to be a great evening of learning, and we’ll also have a taco bar for families to enjoy—we hope to see you there!

Then on Friday, May 8th, we’ll have our last ice cream day of the school year.

Next week, we have some exciting events coming up. On Monday, May 11th, we will host our Ceramics Showcase from 3:30 to 6:00 PM in the gym. Families are invited to come see the amazing clay projects our students have been working on, and our chorus will perform at 5:30. At the end of the evening, students will be able to take their projects home safely.

On Thursday, May 14th at 6:00 PM, we will have our final PTA meeting of the year. We’ll be wrapping up a great year and voting on next year’s board. We currently have several open positions, including Treasurer, Fundraising, Events, Publicity, and Volunteer Coordinator, and we would love to have more families get involved. And as always, don’t forget to download the Box Tops app as an easy way to support our school.

Looking a little further ahead, our 3–5 SOL Carnival will take place on May 19 as a celebration of all the hard work our students have put in. If you’re interested in volunteering, we’d love your help - please sign up using this link.

And as summer approaches, our local library is offering a great Summer Reading Challenge with free programs and activities to keep our students engaged and reading. Register for the Summer Reading Challenge to receive a free, limited edition tote bag, and log your reading to win prizes.

Before I wrap up, I just want to take a moment to say how much I truly appreciate this school community. To our teachers and staff—you show up each day with heart, purpose, and a deep commitment to our students, and it truly makes a difference. It’s an honor to work alongside you. And to our families, thank you for your continued support and for trusting us with your children. I don’t take that lightly, and I’m grateful to serve this community.

Enjoy the rest of your evening, and we’ll see our Foxes bright and early tomorrow morning. Let’s make it a great week by working hard, being kind, and leading the way.

Foxes out!
