Good evening, Fox Families!

This is Mr. Street, your proud principal, with some exciting updates for the coming weeks!

First, a quick schedule update—Monday, March 17th, will now be a regular school day due to the snow days we’ve missed. We’re looking forward to having our Foxes back for a full day of learning!

Mrs. Ward is looking for volunteers to assist with her upcoming clay unit from March 20-26. No experience is needed—just a willingness to help! If you’re interested, sign up at SignUpGenius.

Then, get ready for Picture Day on Monday, March 24th! Students will take class pictures and individual spring portraits, so bring your best smiles!

That same week, we have something our students always look forward to—the Spring Book Fair! From March 24th to 28th, students will shop during their Library resource time. If waiting isn’t your thing, you can shop online right now! Just go to  literati.com/store and search for Moss-Nuckols. We’ll also have the Book Fair open during the PTA Bingo Night on Friday, March 28th, so families can stop by for one last chance to pick up some amazing books! If you’d like to help out, we would love to have volunteers—reach out to our PTA or Mrs. Youel to sign up. Book Fair Volunteer

If your child has been working hard on the Reading Challenge, don’t forget to turn in their Reading Challenge Bookmark to the librarian by March 27th to earn a free ticket to a Flying Squirrels game on May 28th!

Now, let’s talk about something exciting for our younger future Foxes—Preschool applications are now open! If your child will be four years old by September 30, 2025, we’d love to welcome them to the Fox Family. You can apply online at preschool.lcps.k12.va.us or call 540-603-9290 for more information.

Also, don’t forget to order your 2024 MNES Yearbook! They are on sale now for $25, and you can order online at www.strawbridge.net using code YB32151, or send cash or checks to the office. These memories are priceless, so make sure to grab one before the deadline!

To wrap up the month, we have one of our most exciting events—PTA’s Bingo Night and Silent Auction on Friday, March 28th, starting at 5:30! We have some incredible prizes lined up for Bingo and amazing Silent Auction items, including a one-night stay with breakfast for two at the Omni Hotel and a two-hour pass to Get Air! It’s going to be a fantastic evening, and we hope to see you there! If you would like to volunteer, you can use the following link. Bingo Night Volunteer

While we’re talking about the PTA, they are looking for new Board Members for next year! There are a variety of positions open, including Fundraising Chair and Treasurer, so if you’ve been looking for a way to be more involved in our school community, this is a great opportunity. If you’re not a PTA member yet, now is the perfect time to join and support the amazing work they do for our school! PTA Sign-up

Now, I have a question for you! In the book The Wild Robot, Brightbill was so proud when he learned how to swim and fly. What is something you have learned that makes you proud? Think about it and celebrate that feeling, because learning and growing is something to be proud of!

Speaking of The Wild Robot, we have an exciting event coming up—Title I & Title III Family Movie Night! Join us for this free event on Tuesday, April 8th, or Wednesday, April 9th, and enjoy The Wild Robot with your family! In past years, we served pizza, but this year, we’re going all-in on our drive-in theme with a $5 snack voucher to use at the Goochland Snack Shack! Arrive early to avoid concession lines—gates open at 5:30 PM each evening. We can’t wait to see you there! Reserve your movie ticket by visiting https://bit.ly/LCPSFamilyMovieNight or using the QR code on the flyer.

And finally, I want to give a big shoutout to our Den Leaders for their leadership and service. They have taken on an incredible community service project to support the Louisa Animal Shelter, which is currently at critical capacity. From now through March 28th, we are collecting donations of towels, blankets, treats, collars, leashes, and cat litter to help support the shelter. If you’re able to contribute, we would love your support in helping our students make a difference in our community!

Fox Families, I am so grateful for each of you. Our staff, students, and families make MNES such a special place. Thank you for your support, your kindness, and for being part of this incredible school community.

Let’s make it a fantastic week! Stay kind, work hard, and keep that Fox spirit strong.

Foxes out!
