Hello Fox Families!

This is Anita Roane, your principal with a few announcements.  First let me say, I hope you all are remaining safe and doing well.  I've had an opportunity to speak with some of you during the past couple of weeks and I am grateful that we were able to discuss things together.  That is what teamwork is about.

Communication from the school was mailed this past Friday.  It includes your child’s homeroom teacher, room number, scheduled days to come to school, student pickup number, and method of transportation that you chose.  Please look closely at the method of transportation and let us know as soon as possible if there has been a change.  You will also find details about our Open House which will be held by appointments only on either August 5th or August 6th.  Your child’s homeroom teacher will contact you to arrange your appointment time. Grades K-2 will have Open House on August 5th.  Pk and Early Childhood along with grades 3-5 will have Open House on August 6th.  To assist with proper physical distancing, scheduled meetings will be held outside under tents and the wearing of face coverings is required.  The rain dates will be August 7th and August 11th.  During Open House you will have the opportunity to purchase the $20 Protection Plan Insurance to use with the Chromebook and/or iPad that your student will be using.  The Protection Plan Insurance and Equipment Use Agreement are included in your mailing. Having exact change if paying by cash would be extremely helpful. Finally, the supply list is included to help your child be prepared to engage in lessons. However, Open House will not be the time to drop off school supplies.

Ms. Smith, our school nurse brings you greetings from the clinic. She is looking forward to seeing your student in just a few short weeks.  Please make an appointment to meet with her during Open House if you have any concerns regarding your student’s health or need to drop off medication. Medication can only be dropped off by making an appointment in advance with the nurse.  Medical consent forms and health plans can be found on the clinic page through the Moss-Nuckols website.  Please note that all prescribed medication that is stored in the clinic must have a new medical consent form signed by the parent/guardian and physician for the 2020-2021 school year.  Forms from last year are no longer valid.  To make an appointment please call 540-967-1347 ext. 1 or via email @ smithts@lcps.k12.va.us.  Working together we can make plans for a safe and healthy school year.

There will be a frequently asked questions page for our families on our school website during the first week of August to assist you with questions that you may have.  You will also be able to submit questions regarding the school opening process as well.

Please continue to be on the lookout for my weekly calls on Sundays around 6 PM. It is a great opportunity to find out what’s coming up for our foxes.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your attention and have a great evening!
