Greetings Fox Families! This is Ms. Roane, your principal with this week’s announcements.  I hope you all are staying safe and warm during these frigid temperatures.  Thank you for your support, cooperation, and hard work with your students during these remote learning times.

We are certainly looking forward to having our foxes back in the building.  As Mr. Straley mentioned Friday, please don’t forget to do the at-home health screenings before heading off to school.

Last Wednesday evening LCPS held its Spelling Bee.  Moss-Nuckols was well represented and it takes a lot of courage and practice to stand up and attempt to spell words correctly in front of others. The following foxes proudly represented us:

In 3rd Grade: Kadence LaFontaine, Mia Quarles, Gracie Harlow (Alternate)

In 4th Grade: Anni Blair, Olivia Nguyen, Juan Arguello (Alternate)

In 5th Grade: Madison Gholson, Sam Eubank, Savannah Morgner (Alternate)

I am proud to say that Moss-Nuckols brought home the 1st place trophy thanks to Anni Blair.  Congratulations Anni!  She is in Mrs. Thompson’s Class and as the winner of the 2021 LCPS Spelling Bee, Anni will now move on to compete in the 47th annual Richmond Times-Dispatch Spelling Bee on March 15th. Let’s all wish her good luck! Again, thank you to all of our foxes who represented us Wednesday evening.

The Foxy Focus for February is - Patience

Each morning on the announcements the students hear  the following statement:

Patience means waiting for something without getting upset. We have to be patient when we are waiting for our turn to speak, waiting in a long line, or waiting for a game to start. Having patience is being calm and kind, even when we can’t get what we want right away.

Look for specific dates about sending in Valentine’s cards only with your students if that is something your child’s teacher has planned.  As a reminder, there can be no food items brought in for sharing. Cards will be allowed, but they will be asked for in advance.  Again, if your student’s class has something like this planned the classroom teacher will have specific dates and will communicate that information to you.

The Title I & Title III Family Movie Night is coming soon! Please join us on March 23rd or March 24th to watch “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” with your family at the Goochland Drive-In in Hadensville. The annual event includes pizza and activities and will be held in a socially distanced setting. Augustus Gloop was so excited to see the Chocolate Room, where everything was edible. Would you like to have a room like that?

We can’t wait to see you there as we enjoy a night of pure imagination!

Here’s what’s happening in the fox den:

February 4th - School Counselor’s Day

February 11th - Interim Reports Go home with A- Day Students

February 12th- Interim Reports Go Home with B-Day Students

February 15th - Regular School Day

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you for all that you do to make our school the safe Epic M-NES that it is!
