Anita Roane, MNES principal

Greetings Moss-Nuckols Fox Families, Welcome to a new school year!  My name is Anita Roane and as the new Principal of Moss-Nuckols Elementary School, I am honored to become a member of the Fox Community.

My education consists of a Master of Arts Degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.  I have enjoyed spending 28 wonderful years as an educator.  I am an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and I enjoy reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

My greatest initiative is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment where we continue to work together to provide engaging, challenging and meaningful learning experiences for each child that enters our doors.  Moss-Nuckols has some exciting educational opportunities for the students from the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom to the Innovation Lab indoors.  I am excited that Foreign Language has been added to our curriculum this school year.  I am committed to working with the dedicated staff and families to provide the best possible educational program for our students.

The learning environment must be as safe and secure as possible for all involved in the process of fostering academic success for our students.  A team approach is definitely necessary to create and maintain that desired learning environment. Through a close and collegial partnership with everyone associated with Moss-Nuckols, I am confident we can build upon the foundation laid and make our school an even better place for our students to learn and grow.

I’m looking forward to a great school year! Our Foxes will be on the move!

Sincerely,
Anita R. Roane Principal

Hello Parents and Students,

I am very excited to be returning as the Assistant Principal at Moss-Nuckols Elementary. I have a great love for teaching and education. I believe that students get the building blocks to be successful throughout their education in elementary school. Each day, every student has the chance to learn something new and then apply it to life outside school. It is our job as educators to show them the paths to take on their educational journey

My own path to where I am today started in a small Maryland suburb of DC, which led to Towson University where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. I began teaching in Baltimore County just north of Baltimore City, teaching small groups and fourth grade After a few years of big city life my wife and I moved down to central Virginia for the slower pace and greener outdoors. I began working in Orange County as a Math coach and Instructional Technology Resource Teacher. During that time I attended the University of Mary Washington, earning my Masters of Education. After 5 years in Orange County, I joined Louisa as an ITRT and then became the Assistant Principal in 2014.

My wife and I have two young boys, who keep us active. Being from the Baltimore area and being a sports fan, I love the Ravens and the Orioles. I also enjoy running and being outside.

Sincerely,

Steve Allen
