Anita Roane, MNES principal

Greetings Moss-Nuckols Fox Families, Welcome to a new school year!  My name is Anita Roane and I am the Principal of Moss-Nuckols Elementary School.

My education consists of a Master of Arts Degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.  I have enjoyed spending 28 wonderful years as an educator.  I am an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and I enjoy reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

My greatest initiative is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment where we continue to work together to provide engaging, challenging and meaningful learning experiences for each child that enters our doors.  Moss-Nuckols has some exciting educational opportunities for the students from the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom to the Innovation Lab indoors.  I am excited that Foreign Language has been added to our curriculum this school year.  I am committed to working with the dedicated staff and families to provide the best possible educational program for our students.

The learning environment must be as safe and secure as possible for all involved in the process of fostering academic success for our students.  A team approach is definitely necessary to create and maintain that desired learning environment. Through a close and collegial partnership with everyone associated with Moss-Nuckols, I am confident we can build upon the foundation laid and make our school an even better place for our students to learn and grow.

I’m looking forward to a great school year! Our Foxes will be on the move!

Sincerely,
Anita R. Roane Principal 540.967.1347 roanear@lcps.k12.va.us

Dear Moss-Nuckols Community,

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter. I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Principal at Moss-Nuckols Elementary School. I look forward to working with Ms. Roane, as well as the rest of our staff, to ensure our school continues to be a place where our students can learn and grow academically and socially.

My education includes a Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University. I have spent the entirety of my career in elementary school serving as a teacher, testing coordinator, interim administrator, and summer school/after school principal. When I am not at school, I love spending time with my wife, Kendal, and our animals, Bear and Max. I also love being active and being outdoors enjoying everything Virginia has to offer. You will also learn very quickly that I am a huge Washington Redskins fan (sorry Ms. Roane).

My goal as Assistant Principal is to create a learning environment that is safe and respectable, in order for your child to receive the best possible academic instruction. As an educator and instructional leader, I believe in approaching all situations with a student-centered, team approach.  Doing what is best for children is most important. I believe in the potential of each student, and realize we are not just preparing them for the next grade, but for the future.

I look forward to supporting the students, staff, and community of M-NES. I believe in open communication and a strong home to school connection. It is exciting to think about all that we will achieve working together. Let’s make this year great! Feel free to stop in and say hello, as my door is always open. If there is anything I can assist you with, please let me know.

Respectfully,

Gary Lindsay
