During the week of September 24-28 Moss-Nuckols, along with other schools in the division will be participating in Start With Hello Week.
Start With Hello is a national movement to empower kids to create a culture of inclusion and kindness. It was created by Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit led by family members of victims of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012.
The ultimate purpose of Start With Hello week is to teach students to recognize the signs of social isolation, and to take action. Creating a culture of connectedness reduces the risk of youth violence.
Here at M-NES, we would like to treat Start With Hello week as a reminder of our LCPS kindness initiative and to teach our students what they can do if they think someone feels lonely. It's as easy as 1-2-3: 1) See someone alone 2)Reach out and help 3) Start with hello.
We will be recognizing this week with a focus on inclusion and kindness. We will share information with students on the announcements, and will have spirit days!
Monday -"Hey" Day - all students will wear name tags and are challenged to say "hey" to as many new people as possible
Tuesday- "Tied Together" with Kindness - wear tie-dye or a tie
Wednesday - Mix it Up! - change up how students are seated so they can interact with different people
Thursday- Start With Hello and Smile! - classes will take pictures with fun props
Friday - Wear #kindness shirts
